[146] leaves ; 4to. Running number: 6879. Without the false colophon of Arnoldus de Villa, Rome, 1474. Initial spaces not filled in; without rubrication. Half of first front fly-leaf torn off. Worm holes through final 27 leaves. Provenance: manuscript initial and inscription on second front fly-leaf: "M." and "Editio 1ma." [i.e. catalogue code and edition note, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]; with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf: "δ'." [i.e. delta' = Greek number 4]. Manuscript number in black ink on top right-hand corner of second front fly-leaf: "1417" (possibly 1419). With contemporary or sixteenth-century manuscript marginal notes in black ink, manicules and marking of text in red crayon on leaves [a]5r-[b]2r. Note in pencil on the death of Francesco Filelfo in 1471 at the age of 80 beneath colophon on leaf [t]5v, beneath which is a note in a different hand in black ink on the death of Pope Paul II in the same year. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf; sewn onto five sewing supports; double gilt fillet border with gilt floral cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine; brown leather spine label with gilt title 'Xenopho Cyropaid' and place/date of publication 'Mediolan 1467' lettered directly onto spine; red sprinkled textblock edges; comb pattern marbled endpapers.
