Pencil inscription on front pastedown in the hand of Cecil Clarabut (the National Trust's first Libraries Adviser) on front pastedown: "Repaired at Cambridge 1955". Manuscript list of contents in an eighteenth-century hand on front flyleaf (incomplete). Several reading notes in one neat sixteenth-century hand; annotations run from book six to book eleven of the Epistles; corrections, section markers, and marginal annotations to be found occasionally throughout the volume; ink stains; headband and endband in place; water damages. Binding: eighteenth-century Cambridge-style blind-panelled sprinkled and plain calf, with central panel stained dark brown; double blind fillet borders with stamp decorations in each corner and roll pattern alongside each panel; blind roll pattern on board edges; gilt-tooled spine with stamp and fillet decorations; title label with gilt letters: “POLITIANI / OPERA / ANGELI”; sprinkled textbook edges. Several pages stained by water.
