Seven-line initial "B" on a3r supplied in blue with reserved white decoration; other four-line initials at beginning of each book supplied in red or blue with reserved white decoration; paragraph marks and capital strokes added in red. Provenance: library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Manuscript capital letter "S" at head of front fly-leaf. Manuscript inscription at head of verso of second front fly-leaf: "Omnibonus" [i.e. catalogue entry note, written by John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys]. Eighteenth-century bibliographic inscription in an unidentified hand on verso of second front fly-leaf: "De bis Comentariis ea videas quae dicit Calpurnius Brixiensis in sua ad quenda[m] Marcu[m] Aurelium epistola ad finem suae Comoediarum Terentii Editionis, quam Impressit cum co[m]mentario Donati Hermannus Levilapis Coloniensis Taruisii MCCCCLXXVII" [this refers to the edition of the Comoediae of Publius Terentius Afer printed in Treviso by Hermannus Liechtenstein, 18 Sept. 1477. Binding: eighteenth-century full plain calf; sewn on six supports; gilt roll pattern on board edges; gold-tooled spine; title ('OMNIBONI LEONICENI COMM: IN LUCANI 1475') stamped in gold on reddish-brown goatskin label on spine; textblock edges are red and burnished.
