Binding: mid eighteenth-century French blue morocco gilt; covers with a wide border of foliage and strapwork featuring fleurs-de-lis at the corners (within interlacing L's) and at the mid-points; border is made up of four stamps with a small fleur-de-lis and heart roll used outside it. In the centre the royal arms; spine gilt and lettered directly in second panel, the others having crowned interlaced L's and crowned fleurs-de-lis with smaller crowned ciphers and crowned fleurs-de-lis at mid-points. Pink, black and green headbands, edges gilt, marbled endleaves. Bound by A.-M. Padeloup le jeune with his ticket A pasted on the artists' acknowledgement page at the end and reading 'Relié par Padeloup le jeune/ place Sorbonne à Paris'
