Provenance: anonymous gilt armorial centrepiece with motto Nec Cupias Nec Metuas = 3rd Earl? = Philip Yorke, Earl of Hardwicke (1757-1834). Binding: late eighteenth-century red morocco (vol. 1), grained sheep (vol. 2) or goat (vol. 3) over boards on seven recessed cords, gilt spine tooling and titling, gilt armorial centrepiece with dotted border rolls and small cornerpieces on covers, single gilt fillet on board edges, gilt roll tool on board inners, gilt edges, purple silk bookmark. Vol. 3 free endpaper has small ink stamp: Bound by Hering 9 Newman St. Vols. 1-2 use different tools, leather and marbled endpapers; all 3 vols. have the same centrepiece.
