Pencil note on inside front cover (partly obscured by bookplate) about entry for John Porter of Belton on p. 33 (early 19c. hand; perhaps by 1st earl Brownlow). Recent note (post 1984) on loose sheet inside: 'NB very similar [& perhaps identical] to one purchased a few years ago by L.A.O. [= Lincolnshire Archives Office]. Check ref.'. Provenance: No obvious early ownership marks. Old Belton pressmarks on inside front board: V/7 and XLIV.3. Bookplate: Belton House (earl's coronet and crests). Binding: Turned calf (seventeenth-century) with off-centre double rules; sewn on three cords. Boards and first leaf detached, spine defective, with remains of MS title: Lincoln.
