Provenance: With notes on flyleaf recording (1) gift by [4th] duke of Marlborough to [3rd] duke of Grafton 'as was afterwards the second volume'; name 'D. of Grafton' in MS on title page; (2) 'This copy of the Marlborough Gems was presented to the Lady Marian Margaret Egerton, viscountess Alford, by Henry, fifth duke of Grafton, and deposited by her Ladyship in the Ashridge library. September 18th 1854.' Coronet and monogram of Lady Marian Alford blindstamped on title page. Old Belton pressmark on flyleaf: 131. Binding: Grained blue morocco, gilt borders, doublures and edges.
