Talbot / given him by Dr. Butler, / 11 October 1812", i.e. school prize inscribed by Harrow School Headmaster George Butler (1774-1853) to William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877). Binding: Nineteenth-century polished tan calf, double gilt fillet and single blind roll on covers, gilt role at board edges and inners, flat spine gilt and blind in compartments direct lettered gilt, marbled edges.
