Anne Brodie [(1755-1805), of Lethen, sister of Sophia Brodie] 2. Burgie, with ink shelfmark F-4-2. From the late eighteenth century, Burgie was the temporary home of the library collected by Sophia Brodie (1759-1829), of Lethen, and her husband Lewis Dunbar Brodie (b.1760); it later returned to Lethen. (See Sotheby's catalogue, 25 Feb. 1969). Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on v. 1 pastedown in Norris's hand: 'Lethen House Lib[rar]y. Soth.
