Imperfect: the Dunham copy has [73] plates (as does the 1768 reprint) and does not have the port. frontis. The Dunham copy has an additional printed 4ʻ leaf pasted into the rear: 'The names of the Gentlemens seats and other plates contain'd in this book, and the order they are plac'd.' This list suggests there should be a portrait frontis. of Atkyns.. Provenance: Bookplate on front pastedown: Armorial, Grey and Booth quarterings impaling Cavendish-Bentinck: George Harry Grey, 5th earl of Stamford & 1st earl of Warrington (2nd cr.) (1737-1819), pasted over an earlier, less well-executed plate of the 5th earl, with the single-tailed lion.. Binding: Sprinkled, panelled calf; blind ruled, rolled and tooled; restored by Nicholas Pickwoad 18th February 1980; spine entirely replaced; original spine label retained: 'Atkins's state of Glostershire'.
