Imperfect: Dunham copy has only 132 plates.. Provenance: manuscript annotations to each plate in the hand of Mary Booth (1704-1772), wife of the 4th earl of Stamford. Bookplate on front pastedown: Armorial, Grey and Booth quarterings impaling Cavendish-Bentinck: George Harry Grey, 5th earl of Stamford & 1st earl of Warrington (2nd cr.) (1737-1819).. Binding: Red morocco; blind rolled and ruled; spine gilt; spine lettered directly onto leather: 'British zoology' (reback with inferior leather, hinges deteriorating); edges marbled.
