Provenance: manuscript inscription on front flyleaf of vols. 1 and 2: J. Grey Chester. [Probably John Grey (1743-1802)?] Bookplate on front pastedowns of all vols.: Armorial, Grey only with mullet; 'Harry Grey'[Probably Harry Grey (1783-1860), not the third son (as indicated by the mullet) but the third child of John Grey, in turn the third son of the 4th earl of Stamford?].. Binding: Red calf; double gilt ruled; spines double gilt ruled. manuscript paper shelfmark label st head of spine of vol. 4: 316; evidence of other such stickers on other vols.
