Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754; also found in Wimpole books acquired by his successors]. Armorial bookplate (small) on title page verso: John Lord Sommers Baron of Evesham [i.e. John, Lord Somers (1651-1719), Lord Chancellor].. Binding: Seventeenth-century sprinkled calf binding; gilt roll on board edges. Rebacked in gold-tooled sheepskin (18th century), with red gilt morocco title label.
