Vyne, which for Design, Architecture, Statuary, and Execution, is worthy of notice. – Carter.’ Also notes on monuments to Sir B. Granville. Provenance: Nineteenth-century armorial bookplate: Chute of the Vyne [i.e. Chaloner William Chute (1838-1892); the plate was designed for him in 1885 by his brother-in-law William Wyndham Portal, but also used by later generations]. Binding: Seventeenth-century full calf over boards; red morocco spine label with title ‘Whitelock’s Memorials’; sewn on six raised bands; nineteenth-century (?) brown morocco repairs to spine.
