Provenance: library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Binding: eighteenth-century red morocco over boards decorated with Cambridge-style gilt panels and fluerons. Gilt roll pattern along board edges and turn-ins. 5 raised bands; gold tooled spine with quatrefoil and star design, gilt title "MEMORI OF EXETER" tooled directly on to spine. Green, red, and yellow endbands with front beads. Swirl and comb patterned marbled pastedown with conjugate endleaf and additional plain endleaf at both ends. Sewn on 5 supports, 3 laced-in. Gilt leaf edges.
