Orientation: Vertical Text Substrate: handmade laid paper, pritned in single bifolia. Ink/Pigment: black printing ink with early iron-gall ink inscriptions on the title page and front flyleaf Type:BOUND BOOK Binding Type: Inboard binding, raised supports Date of Binding: Contemporary Binder's Name: English End Leaves: Sewn single fold of plain white handmade laid paper within a single outside hook of the same. Originally the stub and outermost full leaf used as pastedowns. Structure: English Edges: Plain cut and not decorated. Spine Lining: Moderate round, light application of glue and no linings End Bands: Worked from left to right 2x2 in yellow and purple plain thread over thick rolled-paper cores with 3 tiedowns. NB knotted threads preserving original colour between pp.34-5, at head. Bookmark: None Boards: Couched laminate rope fibre boards made from 2 pieces of 4mm board pasted together, with no back cornering and square-cut spine edges. Covering: Thin brown tanned calf Tooling Spine: none. Tooling Sides: blind-tooled single panel with corner fleurons within double fillet border; blind roll on edges Furniture: None Enclosure: None Binding Notes: On f. flyleaf: “Jo[h]n Ambler his Book / 1755” with pen flourishes + prices and price codes. On titlepage: “Lewis Jones Lambert July ye. 9th. 1750”. The back flyleaf has 2 ms price codes.
