Provenance: Bookplate in each vol: John Myddelton Esqr. of Chirk Castle Denbighshire [i.e. John Myddelton (1685-1747)] (the plate of Robert Myddelton of Chirk Castle with inscription altered); Jacobean armorial, after 1733. Franks 21457. These have been pasted over an earlier plate, probably that of John's brother, Robert (1678-1733).. Binding: Eighteenth-century sprinkled calf bindings; gilt fillet and roll pattern border on boards; gilt centrepiece on each board, made up of floral and foliate tools. Gilt roll on board edges; blind roll on turn-ins; gold-tooled spines, with gilt title labels.
