Manuscript biographical note about the author in an eighteenth-century hand on vol. 1 rear fly-leaf: "Monseigr. Jean de La Casa né le 28 de Juin 1503". With manuscript marginal annotations in an eighteenth-century hand in vol. 1. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled sheepskin (vol. 1 covers torn); sewn on three supports; five raised bands; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spines; gilt title and vol. number lettered directly on spines. Red sprinkled textblock edges. Comb and swirl pattern marbled front and rear pastedowns.
