Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754) in vol. 1 only: Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Eighteenth-century sprinkled, polished, calf over boards on five raised cords, gilt spine tooling, red-brown and olive-green spine labels, gilt roll on board edges, red and brown sprinkled edges.
