Provenance: Armorial gilt centrepiece on covers: three bunches of grapes and chevron, with coronet and greyhounds supporters [probably Charles-François Olier, marquis de Nointel, d. 1685]. Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: seventeenth-century sprinkled calf over boards, remains of gilt spine tooling, gilt armorial centrepiece on covers: three bunches of grapes and chevron, with coronet and greyhounds supporters [probably Charles-François Olier, marquis de Nointel, d. 1685], remains of blind roll on board edges, red sprinkled edges. Manuscript instruction for spine lettering on flyleaf verso: Juve= nal. Spine label missing. Free endpaper is marbled on both sides [nonpareil].
