[4] p., [28] double leaves of plates : maps ; fol. Running number: 7880. Hand-coloured and illuminated engraved title page and maps, embellished with gold leaf. Provenance: purchased by Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) at the sale of the library of Gosuinus Uilenbroek, Amsterdam, in 1729, lot number 659. In Ellys's marked-up copy of the sale catalogue is the price he paid: "19.0." (probably Dutch gulden and stuivers), followed by a further English price[?] "of Sa...[illegible] 1-1-0". The description in the sale catalogue says the book was painted by one Jo. van Santen. Binding: late seventeenth-century blind-panelled vellum over boards; sewn onto six vellum sewing supports; double and single blind fillet border forming outer panel; double blind fillet forming inner panel, with blind floral cornerpiece stamps; blind lozenge-shape centrepiece stamp; remnants of brown leather title label on spine; blue sprinkled textblock edges.
