Provenance: manuscript inscriptions on front fly-leaf, all in same hand, including: "Sum ex libris Joshuae Bretton" [possibly Joshua Bretton (d. 1689), admitted pensioner (age 16) at Christ's College, Cambridge, March 8, 1665-6. Born at Dullingham, Cambridgeshire. Rector of Elvedon, Suffolk]. Manuscript inscription on interleaved leaf following p. 66: "Joshua Brittaine". Manuscript marginalia and underscoring of text in pencil throughout. Binding: seventeenth-century sprinkled calf; double blind fillet border, with quarter double blind fillet and blind cornerpiece stamps; double blind fillet on board edges. Recessed cords. Blind fillets on spine, with remnants of paper label. Red sprinkled edges. Printed waste as pastedowns.
