Provenance: large armorial bookplate: 'William Thompson of ye Middle Temple London Esq now married to Mary sole daughter of Iohn Stephens of Broadway in Worcestershire Gent' [presumably the Whig judge Sir William Thompson (1678-1739)]. Manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]; with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf: "δ'." [i.e. delta' = Greek number 4]. Binding: seventeenth-century sprinkled calf; double blind fillet border, with two quarter double blind fillets; gilt roll pattern on board edges; spine plain, 5 raised bands.
