Affixed over an earlier bookplate: late nineteenth-century (?) armorial bookplate: Hugh Cecil Earl of Lonsdale [(1857-1944), not found in Franks].Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on flyleaf in Norris's hand: Lowther Castle. 3/=. 5/47.. Binding: Eighteenth-century full calf over boards; gilt fillets; spine gilt; brown leather spine label: 'Stanyan Account of Switzer'; sewn on five raised bands.
