Loosely inserted (between pp. 228-9): 2 plates from Gentleman's magazine, one dated June 1820, the other "Vol. XCII. Part 1"; showing buildings of Kent. Loosely inserted: clippings from dealer's catalogues, unrelated to provenance. Provenance: Early nineteenth-century armorial bookplate with motto "For right and reason". [Cf. Norris's note: "b. of Edwards 1892. C.S.K." Otherwise as yet unidentified] Late nineteenth-century bookplate: Charles Eamer Kempe, Old Place, Lindfield, Co. Sussex. (Franks 16950) [i.e. Charles Eamer Kemp or Kempe (1837-1907), artist and designer, owner of stained glass works]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: "S. [Sotheby's] 8/3 55. Lot 527. Đ6-5. Portrait repaired.". Binding: Eighteenth-century panelled calf over boards; rebacked in nineteenth-century leather; spine gilt; red leather spine label with title "Harris's History of Kent"; sewn on six raised bands.
