Provenance: Bookplate in both vols: John Myddelton Esqr. of Chirk Castle Denbighshire [i.e. John Myddelton (1685-1747)] (the plate of Robert Myddelton of Chirk Castle with inscription altered); Jacobean armorial, after 1733. Franks 21457. This has been pasted over an earlier bookplate, probably that of John's brother, Robert (1678-1733).. Binding: Seventeenth-century Cambridge-style blind-panelled sprinkled calf bindings; blind roll on board edges; gold-tooled spines, with gilt title labels.
