Water-staining at foot of leaves and up into gutter margin throughout. Provenance: possibly a Golden Fleece binding of Hilaire Bernard de Requeleyne, Baron de Longepierre (1659-1721). Manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]; with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf: "ι½." [i.e. iota½ = Greek number 10½]. Binding: eighteenth-century full mottled calf; water-damage at foot of both covers; sewn on five raised bands; double gilt fillet and gilt roll pattern border; blind roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine divided into six panels, five with pasted on off-white parchment[?] panels containing Golden Fleece stamps, one with gilt title on brown leather label; parchment panels partially eroded away by some chemical process, leaving the gilt decoration in relief. Red coloured textblock edges. Placard(ish) pattern marbled endpapers.
