Inscribed on flyleaf in Norris's hand: Helmingham Library, S. [Sotheby's] 17/2 '69 Lot 49 QS/-/- [i.e. Đ46? Norris sometimes used this code]. [Helmingham Hall, Suffolk, home of Tollemache family who also lived at Ham House. Thus possibly owned by Lionel Tollemache, 4th Earl of Dysart (1708-1770)]. Binding: Fine seventeenth-century full black morocco binding; double gilt fillet to form a border; gilt edges; gilt fillets, roll-tools and cornerpieces to form a central panel; gilt-panelled spine, with gilt title 'Filmer Patriarcha'; sewn on five raised bands.
