Provenance: armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: eighteenth-century sprinkled, panelled, polished, sheep over boards on four raises cords plus two false ones, brown spine label (gilt-lettered: Montfau Travels), double blind fillet with inner rectangular compartment and cornerpiece design on covers, gilt roll on board edges, red and brown sprinkled edges.
