Cornwaleys [?] P[ ] (crossed out and partly illegible). Bookplate covered by late pastedown: apparently Raymond's eighteenth-century armorial bookplate with motto "Æquam servare mentem". (Not in Franks). [i.e. probably Robert Raymond, 2nd Lord Raymond (d.1753), after whom title became extinct]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: East Sutton Park 27/6 '45 Lot [no lot number given]. Portrait of Monmouth wanting. [East Sutton Park, Kent, seat of baronets of Filmer, who were connected to the 2nd Lord Raymond, Benesham Filmer having inherited the estate of Pirton from him]. Binding: Eighteenth-century (?) full sprinkled sheep over boards; brown leather spine label; sewn on five raised bands.
