Provenance: Inscribed in late seventeenth- or early eighteenth-century hand on flyleaf: index of references to Roger Twysden [(1597-1672)], with page numbers. Also inscribed (in same hand?): "860 / Qq:2". Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: Colne Park. H. [i.e. Hodgson's] 18/1 40 Lot 382.. Binding: Eighteenth-century full panelled sprinkled calf over boards; double blind fillets to form central panels and a border; blind corner tools; gilt-rolled edges; spine gilt; red leather spine label with title "Somner's Roman Forts"; sewn on four raised bands.
