Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Reverse calf over boards; sewn onto six raised bands, plus two false bands; gilt spine tooling; blind rectangular compartments and cornerpieces on covers; remains of blind roll on board edges; red and brown sprinkled edges.
