Manuscript inscriptions on front fly-leaf: "Anne ffiennes her Book 1671" and "Mary ffiennes her book :1676:" [possibly Anne Fiennes and Mary Fiennes (1663-1737), daughters of Nathaniel Fiennes (1607 or 8-1669) and his second wife Frances (1621-1691). Nathaniel Fiennes was the second son of William Fiennes, 1st Viscount Saye and Sele (1582-1662), who was a supporter of the New England colonies and Puritans, and who knew John Cotton. The family were noted Dissenters]. Binding: seventeenth-century limp vellum; gilt fillet frames, with gilt cornerpiece stamps; gilt centrepiece stamp; manuscript initials "AF" on either side of centrepiece on upper cover. Pair of holes in covers for ties (missing). Gilt stamp decoration on spine.
