Provenance: H.C. de Béringhen; bookplate on upper lining of Alexander, tenth duke of Hamilton, sold by the twelfth duke (sale 1884, lot 2104). Binding: mid eighteenth-century French red morocco gilt; wide border of large blocked tools. Royal arms in centre and cipher in smaller cartouches. In larger corner cartouches are the arms of the marquis de Béringhen. Spine gilt with fleurs-de-lis and royal cipher, olive lettering-piece in the second panel; red, white and green headbands, edges gilt, pale blue satin linings.
