Provenance: Morgand et Fatout (stock no. 3319); 1897 Waddesdon catalogue, p.46. Binding: French red morocco in dentelle style, c.1785. Dentelle border with semis of small dots but leaving clear spaces for small tools of two flaming hears pierced by an arrow and crowned by a halo, a hunting horn, clasped hands and a pair of kissing doves. Green lettering-piece on spine with the hears and hands tools in the other panels. Red, white and blue headbands, blue silk marker, gilt edges, light blue watered-silk linings. Attributed to N.-D. Derome on the evidence of the birds in wreath tool.
