Provenance: probably a presentation copy [it's in a fine presentation binding] to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742), an appropriate gift for a Nonconformist bibliophile. Binding: eighteenth-century full gold-tooled dark blue morocco (slight damage to surface of leather at tail of front cover); sewn on five raised bands; gilt border of double fillets and pattern of repeated ornamental stamps; gilt centrepiece of repeated ornamental stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges and turn-ins; gilt spine with stamp decoration in five fillet panels, with roll decoration at head and tail and along raised bands; title 'Williams Catalogu' [sic] lettered in gilt directly onto spine in second panel; all edges gilt; comb and swirl pattern marbled endpapers.
