Provenance: Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Seventeenth-century sprinkled calf over boards on five raised cords, remains of brown spine label, gilt spine tooling, double blind fillet on covers, red and brown sprinkled edges. Old water staining to top fore-edge corner of textblock.
