Manuscript initial "M." on front endleaf [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Ellys], with Mitchell's inscription on verso of second front endleaf "Salisbury" [i.e. catalogue code and title note for anonymous works entered by Mitchell in his catalogue of Elly's library]. Letters inscribed on front endleaf: "C. & P." [i.e. the "collated and perfect" mark of the bibliophile Thomas Rawlinson (1681-1725), brother of the author]. Binding: eighteenth-century full sprinkled calf, double gilt fillet border and small gilt cornerpieces; gilt roll pattern on board edges; raised bands, gilt tooled spine with gilt title on goatskin label; two colour endbands; plain pastedown and endleaves, printed waste evident beneath pastedown; brown and red sprinkled edges.
