[i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]; with Mitchell's manuscript code at foot of leaf: "ι½" [i.e. iota ½ = Greek number 10½]. Manuscript initials on front fly-leaf: "C.H.". Binding: late seventeenth or eighteenth-century blind-tooled sprinkled and plain calf; sewn onto six raised bands; covers have a framework of four panels formed by blind fillets and rolls, the inner three panels mitred together at the corners and with blind cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern along board edges; gold-tooled spine, with stamp and fillet decoration; brown goatskin label with gilt title on spine. Red and brown sprinkled textblock edges.
