Manuscript inscriptions on verso free front endleaf: [1] nineteenth-century pencilled note "HR/-£25.0.0 clp/clg/"; [2] twentieth-century pencilled number "399". Binding: Late eighteenth-century diced tan calf over boards, three gilt rules to form a frame of intersecting lines with a small six-pointed star in centre of each square formed by the intersecting rules; gilt roll pattern on board edges and turn-ins; smooth spine, gilt tooled with title and volume no. tooled directly on to spine; three-coloured double endbands; 'spot' pattern marbled endpapers with matching marbled leaf edges.
