Michael Heathorn Huxley' [i.e. Michael Heathorn Huxley (1899-1979), diplomat and editor]. Manuscript inscription beneath bookplate on front pastedown: "M.H.H. to R.W.K.-C. 28. VI. 62" [i.e. a gift from Michael Heathorn Huxley to Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)]. Binding: twentieth-century half-bound burgundy calf, with reddish-brown cloth over boards; gold-tooling on spine; gilt title 'Adam's Spalatro' lettered directly on spine; cream colour endpapers. Binder's ink-stamp at foot of front pastedown, the beginning destroyed by insect damage: '...54[?] High Holborn. London'. Binder's pencil codes on rear pastedown: "d\m\c 5/26 Binding dt\ 6/26".
