Provenance: Library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Eighteenth-century manuscript former shelfmark on verso of front endleaf of each volume, sequentially from L.2.5 to L.2.12. Binding: Eighteenth-century full calf over boards, gilt tooled to a Cambridge panel design. Gilt roll pattern on board edges. Raised bands; gilt tooled spine and gilt title on leather label with gilt volume number tooled directly on to spine (vols. 1-7). Endbands. Marbled pastedown and endleaves at both ends (vols. 1-7). Vols. 3-8 with red sprinkled edges.
