In[ig]o Ord, partly torn away. An Ord family lived in Fornham St Martin near Ickworth. During 1772-73 William Hervey (1732-1815) was in Italy with a "Mr Ord", probably the John Ord whose inscription appears here; cf. William Hervey's Journal. Binding: Eighteenth-century full calf over boards; rebacked in calf; gilt spine title; sewn on five raised bands.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. The house and contents were acquired through the National Land Fund and transferred to the National Trust in 1956
