This painting depicts Greek and Roman references. The painting depicts two devotees of Dionysus, the Greek god of fertility and the grape-harvest. One of the female figures is holding a thyrsus (a wand tipped with a pine cone, a symbol of fertility) and the other female figure is holding a bunch of grapes. To the right of the two female figures is a putto (a cherub) wearing a grey sash. All the figures are pictured on a grassy bank.
