A wall painting by Vincenzo Valdre (1740-1814) located on the south wall of the Dining Room in Calke Abbey. The painting is contained within a plaster frame and is painted in oil. This painting depicts Greek and Roman references. The painting depicts a Maenad, a female follower of Dionysus the Greek god of fertility and the grape-harvest. The Maenad is wearing a blue and green dress and a grey sash and she is playing a tambourine. To the left of the Maenad is a putto (a cherub) wearing a red sash and playing a triangle.
