Print, etching, Extraordinary Scenes on the Road from London to Portsmouth, or an instance of unexampled speed used by a Body of Guards .(after Heinrich Joseph Schutz) by Thomas Rowlandson (London 1756 – London 1827).One of a collection of one hundred and thirty six caricature prints attached to the wall of the Caricature Room (Cf Times, London. 11. 6. 1789). Ref:[2, BMC 9243] [2, Vol1, p349]. The title continues: 'Consisting of 1920 Rank & File, besides Officers; who on the 10th of June, 1798, left London in the morning, and actually began to Embark for, Ireland at Portsmouth at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, having travelled 74 miles in 10 hours.'
