Summary
Large silver-gilt flagon with a tapering cylindrical body on a spreading skirt foot. The domed moulded lid has a central knop finial and a straight pierced thumb piece. The lid is hinged at the top of the tapering 'S' scroll handle. Engraved on the side with a scrolling cartouche enclosing the crest of a lion rampant . Inscribed under foot ; 'The gift of Sir Jn Harpur Baronett for the use of Caulk Church in Derbyshire 1709'. Hallmarked on side PE (Edmund Pearce) ; Britannia (Britannia Standard Silver) ; Lions head erased (London) ; N (1708).
