Summary

Of baluster form, silver gilt, on a stepped domed foot with plain base rim, the concave moulding has applied cast strapwork and scrolls alternating with scroll and shell pendants, on a ground of pricked scalework. A short stem, chased with lobes and roundels on a matted ground, supports the body of the fountain, the lower section of which has applied 'ninepin' straps alternating with palm leaves on a pricked scalework ground. A bold applied moulding has a chased scalework band interspersed with cast and applied flowers and satyr's mask from whose mouth the spigot tap projects. The tap has a sea serpent spout; the spigot is a casting of double leaves, scrolls and a fruit knop. On the main body of the fountain, against a pricked scalework ground, plain shaped panels alternate with chased and applied ridged straps topped with shells and at either side, lion's mask grip hinged double scroll handles in their teeth. On two of the panels are later engraved arms of a lion rampant suspended from a bow in an oval frame of husks. Above another projecting band, supported on bold scrolls, is a chased band of scalework interpersed with flowers and latticework. The final convex section has applied shells and flower motifs against an arcaded pricked scalework ground. The domed cover has strapwork and palm leaves applied on a shaped matted ground with an applied band of scalework interpersed with shells above, rising to a finial of bold scrolls and leaves with a turned fruit knop. A crest of a 'boar passant ducally gorged' is engraved on the cover.
