Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Prize Longhorn Bull by Thomas Weaver (Worthen 1774 - Liverpool 1843). 1830. A longhorn bull standing in a landscape. The bull is mainly brown-red, with a white back and underside. It stands facing right, with sweeping concave horns and large eye. A white country house is in the background with stables and a church tower to the right. Cracked surface.
Provenance
Acquired with Calke Abbey's contents, with the aid of a grant provided by the National Heritage Memorial Fund, thanks to a special allocation of money from the Government in 1985 and transferred to the National Trust with the house that was given by Henry Jenney Hapur-Crewe (1921- 1991)
