Oil painting on canvas, A Prize Cow and Calf in a Rural Wooded Landscape by Thomas Weaver (Worthen 1774 - Liverpool 1843), inscribed 'Painted by Thos. Weaver Shrewsbury 1824.' A light-coloured shorthorn? Cow and calf stand in a landscape, the cow facing right, the calf in front of her, facing left. A tree frames the painting to the left, rolling hills beyond., Frame: an inscription along the top 'Aurora (equals sign) by Comet calf Juniper by Jippoo'.

Acquired with Calke Abbey's contents, with - 1981) to the National Trust with the aid of a grant provided by the National Heritage Memorial Fund, thanks to a special allocation of money from the Government and transferred in lieu of tax on the estate of Charles Jenney Harpur-Crewe (1917 the house that was given by Henry Jenney Harpur-Crewe (1921- 1991), in 1984
